NEW COURSE! We look forward to seeing you Thanksgiving morning for the 6th annual Turkey Trot Charity 5k in Baltimore City! Thank you for joining us in this healthy Thanksgiving morning tradition!
Course: NEW! A walk or run starting at the Weinberg Y in Waverly, circling around the beautiful Lake Montebello and ending back at the Y!
- START on the West side of the Stadium Place loop. Runners will start facing South and complete the Southwest quarter of the Stadium Place loop.
- Runners will make a slight RIGHT to exit the loop and head to E 33rd St.
- Turn LEFT onto the Westbound lane of E 33rd St and run against the flow of traffic.
- Follow E 33rd St to the entrance of Lake Montebello. Turn LEFT to the access road to the Lake Montebello loop.
- Turn RIGHT onto the Lake Montebello loop and continue around the Lake in a counter clockwise direction.
- Make one full lap and exit the Lake Montebello loop at the access road that was used to enter.
- Follow E 33rd St using the Westbound lane running with the flow of traffic.
- Turn RIGHT towards the Stadium Place loop
- Bear LEFT at the loop to proceed towards the finish
- FINISH will be just after the start line.
Parking: Our Thanksgiving morning walkers, runners, volunteers, moral supporters, etc should park at the Weinberg Y in Waverly or the upper-lot of Johns Hopkins University at Eastern (at the corner of Loch Raven Blvd and Eastern). Please be sure to check your favorite directional service before heading to the Trot – Harford Road is closed at Argonne Drive and may impact your usual travel route.
Packet Pick-up Times:
We strongly encourage you to pick up your packets in advance, as lines on Thanksgiving morning can be long. You may pick up packets for friends and family, just have their first and last names.
What am I supporting when I run?
Proceeds from this major community fundraising event fund Y Open Doors Financial Aid to help families living in poverty throughout central Maryland afford Y programs which keep them and their children active, learning and participating in all the Y has to offer.
Is my registration fee tax deductible?
A portion of your registration fee and all donations are tax-deductible. The Y in Central Maryland is designated as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Your contribution is tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. Can I walk (instead of run)?
Of course. You are welcome to run, walk, trot, skip, just keep moving forward!
Do I have to be a Y member?
No, all are welcome!
Are children welcome?
Absolutely! Children six and under register for just $5. Children ages seven through 17 register for a reduced rate.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes! Dogs who are registered for the event will receive a 2018 Y Turkey Trot Charity 5K bandanna. Dogs do not have to register, but only those who register will receive a bandanna. We also ask that dogs who attend: are well socialized, well behaved, on leash at all times, and line up with their owners at the back of the pack (also, please clean up after your pooch).
Are strollers allowed?
Yes! Strollers are permitted on the course; however, we ask that for safety reasons you line up at the back of the pack.
How do I access my complimentary 30-day membership?
All registrants who aren’t Y members will receive a complimentary membership good for 30 days until December 31, 2018. To activate this offer, bring your registration receipt to any Y Center, and one of our helpful associates will sign you up. This membership expires at the end of December, so it’s best to get your month in before then!
What if I can’t make it after I have registered and paid for the race?
Your registration fee will not be refunded if you do not attend. Your fee will go to helping families in Central Maryland that are in critical need of assistance.
Do I need to come to packet pick up or can I get my shirt and number the morning of the event?
If it is necessary for you to pick up your packet the morning of the 5K, you can do so. We strongly encourage you to pick up your packet in advance to avoid standing in line the morning of the event.
Can I send someone to pick up my packet for me?
Yes, that person will have to initial that they picked up your packet in case there is any question.
What t-shirt size should I get?
T-shirts are Adult Unisex and fabric. The sizing is as follows: Small – 28 length, 18 width; Medium – 29 length, 20 width; Large – 30 length, 22 width, XLarge – 31 length, 24 width, 2XL – 32 length, 26 wide.
Race Bib Numbers
Must be placed on front of shirt for finish line postings.
How do I get my t-shirt?
You can pick up your t-shirt when you pick up your packet either at the packet pick up times or the day of the event. Remember that if you register race morning, you are not guaranteed a t-shirt.
Is there a family/group discount?
Since this is a fundraiser for those in need, we do not discount registrations, BUT you can register as a team!
Can I create a team?
Yes! Whether it be with friends, family or work colleagues, we’d love you to register a team. All you need to do is select the ‘Create a Team’ option when you register and you’ll be off and running.
How do I join a team?
It’s easy. You can either search for an already formed team upon registration or your Team Captain can send you a direct link to the team page.

I’m not registered to run on the day but I would still like to fundraise. Is this possible?
Yes please and thank you! All you need to do is select the ‘Fundraiser’ option upon registration and we’ll set you up with an online fundraising page for you to collect donations.

What if it rains?
Y Turkey Trots are held rain or shine!
Can I dress up?
Absolutely! We love seeing everyone dressed up on the day.
What time should I arrive?
If you are already registered, please plan to arrive at the event at least 30 minutes before start time (by 8:00 am). If you are registering on event day, please plan to arrive at least one hour before the 5K begins.
Are there prizes?
Yes – Medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age group! Fundraising prizes will be awarded in the weeks following the event.
Is the run timed?
Yes! All runners, except Children and dogs, are timed.
Where can I find the race results?
Smoking is NOT permitted on The Y in Central Maryland property or the 5k course.
