Course: Walk or run starting at Carroll Community College, progressing on streets past Westminster High School and finishing at the Hill Y in Westminster.
- There will be no parking in the Y parking lot; please park at Carroll Community College, follow signs
- Due to the course layout, the Sheriff’s Department will not allow the college parking lot to start to clear until the last participant passes the lower entrance of this area. If you need to leave earlier than this, it is advised to park at the Park ‘n Ride Lot at the intersection of 32 & 97. We will provide shuttles starting 7:20a-8:10a and 9:00a–10:00a for this lot by the Y Mini-Bus

From turkeys to chefs to cans of cranberry sauce, one of the best parts of the Turkey Trot is the costumes! Have some (extra) fun by dressing up and you may win yourself a prize in one of our categories: best individual, best group and best dog!
Packet Pick-up Times:
We strongly encourage you to pick up your packets in advance, as lines on Thanksgiving morning can be long. You may pick up packets for friends and family, just have their first and last names.
What am I supporting when I run?
Proceeds from this major community fundraising event fund Y Open Doors Financial Aid to help families living in poverty throughout central Maryland afford Y programs which keep them and their children active, learning and participating in all the Y has to offer.
Is my registration tax-deductible?
A portion of your registration fee and all donations are tax-deductible. The Y in Central Maryland is designated as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization by the Internal Revenue Service. Your contribution is tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. To claim a donation as a deduction on your U.S. taxes, please keep your email donation receipt as your official record. How do I access my complimentary 30-day membership?
To activate your complimentary membership please bring your registration receipt to any Y Center and one of our helpful associates will sign you up. This membership expires at the end of December, so it’s best to get your month in before then! Please note this offer is not available to current Y members.
Can I walk (instead of run)?
Of course. You are welcome to run, walk, trot, skip, just keep moving forward!
Do I have to be a Y member?

Are children welcome?
Absolutely! Children six and under register for just $5. Children ages seven through 17 register for a reduced rate.
Are dogs allowed?
Yes! Dogs who are registered will receive a Y Turkey Trot bandana. Dogs do not have to register, but only those who register will receive a bandana. We also ask that dogs who attend are well socialized, well behaved, on leash at all times, and line up with their owners at the back of the pack (also, please clean up after your pooch).
Are strollers allowed?
Yes! Strollers are permitted on the course; however, we ask that for safety reasons you line up at the back of the pack.
What t-shirt size should I get?
T-shirts are Adult Unisex and fabric. The sizing is as follows: Small – 28 length, 18 width; Medium – 29 length, 20 width; Large – 30 length, 22 width, XLarge – 31 length, 24 width, 2XL – 32 length, 26 wide.
What if I can’t make it after I have registered and paid for the race?
Your registration fee will not be refunded if you do not attend. Your fee will go to helping families in Central Maryland that are in critical need of assistance.
Do I need to come to packet pick up or can I get my shirt and number the morning of the event?
If it is necessary for you to pick up your packet the morning of the 5K, you can do so. We strongly encourage you to pick up your packet in advance to avoid standing in line the morning of the event.
Can I send someone to pick up my packet for me?
Yes, that person will have to initial that they picked up your packet in case there is any question.
Is there a family/group discount?
Since this is a fundraiser for those in need, we do not discount registrations, BUT you can register as a team!
Can I create a team?
es! Whether it be with friends, family or work colleagues, we’d love you to register a team. All you need to do is select the ‘Create a Team’ option when you register and you’ll be off and running.
How do I join a team?
It’s easy. You can either search for an already formed team upon registration or your Team Captain can send you a direct link to the team page.

I’m not registered to run on the day but I would still like to fundraise. Is this possible?
Yes please and thank you! All you need to do is select the ‘Fundraiser’ option upon registration and we’ll set you up with an online fundraising page for you to collect donations.
Are there any fundraising prizes available?
Yes. And the more you more you raise, the closer you’ll be to getting your hands on some excellent fundraising prizes.

What if it rains?
Y Turkey Trots are held rain or shine!
Where is the start/finish line?
Start near South entrance for the campus of Carroll Community College and finish at The Hill Y in Westminster.
Can I dress up?
What time should I arrive?
If you are already registered, please plan to arrive at the event at least 30 minutes before start time (by 8:00 am). If you are registering on event day, please plan to arrive at least one hour before the 5K begins.
What is the route of the 5K?
- Turn RIGHT onto RT 32
- Turn RIGHT onto Kate Wagner Road Extended and follow up hill
- Circle roundabout LEFT at entrance of Gateway School and head back down hill
- Turn RIGHT on 32
- Turn RIGHT at first entrance of High School and then immediate RIGHT into Carroll Tech Center lot
- Follow road as it winds around CTC and behind High School
- Turn LEFT at Tennis Courts behind High School
- Turn LEFT onto 32 and follow back to Y
- Turn LEFT into the Hill Y in Westminster and stay immediate LEFT to the FINISH
Where do I park?
Will I be able to go into the Y?
The The Hill Y in Westminster will be open race morning for restroom use and to meet your friends. We will have additional port a pots located by the parking area for convenience. The Y parking lot will not be open for parking.
Are there prizes or medals?
Medals will be awarded to the top three runners in each age group and will be distributed after the race.

Is the run timed?
Yes! All runners, except children and dogs, are timed. All race results will be released on our blog by midday on Thanksgiving. You will also be able to find them on our Facebook page.
Where can I find the race results?
How do I get my t-shirt?
You can pick up your t-shirt when you pick up your packet either at the packet pick up times or the day of the event. Remember that if you register race morning, you are not guaranteed a t-shirt.

Must be placed on front of shirt for finish line postings.
Smoking is NOT permitted on The Y in Central Maryland property or the 5k course.
