“The Turkey Trot is always so exciting! To me, the most fun part is seeing all the people dressed up in their costumes. It’s cool!” says Serena.
In recent times however, instead of running, Serena has played the important role of being “the mile one” volunteer who cheers people on as they run. If you have participated in the Westminster race before, you may even recognize her!
Serena is one of 475+ volunteers who make the Turkey Trot a success year after year. From handing out bibs and shirts at packet pick up to getting up bright and early on Thanksgiving morning to help, volunteers make the Turkey Trot possible.
And with all the event proceeds going toward helping children and adults access Y programs that keep them safe, engaged and healthy, Serena deeply believes in the Y and the lifelong benefits of the organization.
“There may be a point in your life when you need something and someone steps in and helps. It is important that we do that as human beings,” says Serena.
Thank you to Serena and all our volunteers past, present, and future! If you would like to volunteer for this year’s event, please register today.
